SleepWalk Plaza: the concept from Timothy Trieste’s novella

“You can see them walking across the plaza: the dreamers, sleepwalkers, the searchers, lovers and losers. The plaza is life’s commute. They wander alone and unconscious, anticipating that moment which might offer a purpose, or a meaning for all of this. Sweeping their tired feet across the shiny midnight streets, in a sleepwalk, they roam the plaza because they had not found what they were searching for in the light of day. Something in the darkness offers a second chance. During these deepest hours when the light has been drawn down, smoothing all edges, and mending all fissures, amidst the tumble of stars and the drone of crickets out in the fields, they gather here. You can hear them talking all night.”

-Timothy Trieste from his novella “Talking All Night.” The E-book is a companion to the album and was the literary backdrop and inspiration for the songs and the stage show.

The Concert and Stage Show: Talking All Night

The 13 songs from the album featuring the sultry vocals of Shann Bailey, become the live soundtrack for a multi-media concert in which songwriter/storyteller Timothy Trieste replicates a late-night radio show where callers reveal their deeper thoughts to the host, along with their experiences of life and existence, out in the plaza of sleepwalkers, dreamers and searchers. Drawing on the great canon of poetry from around the world, the philosophy of Hegal, the psychological philosophy of Carl Jung, and theories of Einstein, astrophysicists and quantum theorists, Talking All Night takes us on a mystical and philosophical sleepwalk, asking the big questions: Where do we come from? Why are we here? Do we have a purpose? Is this existence real or is it a dream?
